Students at St. John Vianney Parish School will shed a little light on Kailua Friday and Saturday, all in the interest of efficient energy use with better light bulbs.

The fourthand eighth-graders are offering to replace residents’ old-fashioned incandescent bulbs, one for one, with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) from 7 to 8 a.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, and again from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the front entrance of the Kailua Macy’s store.

The children have joined Blue Planet Foundation, which promotes awareness of Hawaii’s unsustainable dependence on fossil fuel. The CFLs are provided by the foundation.

The school is located at 940 Keolu Drive. For more information, call 261-4651.
