Paliku Theatre will wax poetic Sunday when the 2010-2011 Star Poets competition honors more than 73 students and their teachers for outstanding entries.

The program begins at 1 p.m. and will include readings by the winning poets (grades 3-12 statewide) and a presentation of awards - $50 for winners and $10 for honorable mentions, plus publication in the annual journal. Theme this year is “The Value of Hawaii.”

Honolulu Theatre for Youth artistic director Eric Johnson also will attend the ceremonies, as HTY is planning to produce a show next season that will feature Star Poems from the program’s decade of winners.
