Cookbook Sales Aid AUW
Ben Franklin Stores recently donated more than $7,000 to Aloha United Way through sales of its cookbook, Recipes Uniting Communities. This year, in addition to its traditional workplace campaign, Ben Franklin decided to further support the community by developing a cookbook that included recipes from employees from all its stores statewide as well as in Las Vegas,Washington and Oregon. UH Athletics Receives 10K For Fund
Michele Saito (right), president of Farmers Insurance Hawaii, recently presented Jim Donovan, athletics director for the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a check for $10,000 to create the Farmers Insurance Hawaii Scholarship Fund, which will provide financial assistance to UH Manoa student-athletes. The UHM athletics program currently has 565 student-athletes participating on a total of 19 different sports teams. Approximately 40 percent of all student-athletes are on scholarship.
