Award-winning Fried Rice
This week we welcome the two winners of the Hinode Fried Rice Recipe Contest, Christina Lin and Lisa Kimura, to the show to share their creations.
CURRY FRIED RICE
* 2/3 pound ground pork
* 1/3 cup diced onion
* 1 tablespoon curry powder
* 1 teaspoon sugar
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2 cups frozen peas and carrots
* 4 cups cooked rice
Heat 3 tablespoon oil and stir-fry onions until fragrant. Add meat and stir to separate. Fry until color changes. Add the curry powder, sugar and salt. Mix well. Add the frozen peas and carrots and the rice. Continue to stir-fry until mixed well.
LISA’S FRIED RICE
* 4 cups jasmine rice
* 4 tablespoons oyster sauce
* 1/4 cup crushed garlic
* green onions, diced
* cilantro, diced
* basil, diced
Saute garlic, gradually adding onions, cilantro and basil. Slowly stir in precooked rice and oyster sauce. Serve hot.
