Korean At Its Best

Lisa Lee and Mama Kim of Best Drive-In visit the show this week to treat us to delicious and easy Korean dishes.

KALBI
• 3-4 pounds kalbi (short ribs)
• 2 cups shoyu
• 1 1/2 cups sugar
• 1/3 cup chopped round onion
• 1 teaspoon garlic
• 1/2 teaspoon ginger
• 1/4 cup chopped green onions
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• 2 tablespoons sesame seed oil
• 4 cups water
black sesame seeds
• 2 tablespoon olive oil

Cut kalbi and marinate it overnight. Grill or broil.


KOREAN STYLE KIMCHEE PANCAKE
• 1 cup chopped kimchee
• 4 or 5 pieces raw shrimp, chopped
• 1/4 cup chopped beef or pork
• 1/2 cup flour
• 1/3 cup mochiko
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
green onion
• 1/2 round onion (sliced)
olive oil, for frying

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl; do not overmix. Using a large spoon, create pancake shapes in a frying pan.

Fry in olive oil until golden brown.

For Sauce:
shoyu
garlic (minced)
chili pepper
sesame seed oil
vinegar
